boyfriend + biscuits
{Sam} I know that most of my posts are dedicated to fashion and other beautiful musings, but today I wanted to take a little bit of time out to introduce you to my boyfriend, Sam. Isn't he cute? As some of you may or may not know, he's definitely a rockstar (in my eyes at least) and while we're both being smarty pants' and going through college we're trying this whole "long-distance" thing. So he's in Nashville, pursuing his dreams and I couldn't be more proud. A few months ago, his roommate and him collaborated and formed a band called The Lonely Biscuits. Now guys, I know I may have a biased opinion but they are absolutely amazing! If you're in the market for some new and fresh sounds, definitely take a listen. You won't be disappointed. I promise you.
He gives me inspiration. He brings me smiles. He's just a beautiful person.

{rainy days} Since my friends and I have been away at college, we've dabbled in the lost art of letter writing. It's always such an adventure popping open your mailbox and seeing that a little bit of handwritten love has made its way to wherever you are. So, today I picked up a few of those quotable cards in order to spread a bit of inspiration and love to my very studious friends while we're apart. This is where I drew my inspiration from today. Maybe you'll find a glimmer of inspiration hidden inside them as well.

{sunshine} Yesterday, the weather was beyond beautiful. It was one of those days where with every breath you took, you felt a little bit stronger and saw the world with eyes that were a little more clear. I love these days. I especially love them because they present me with the opportunity to see God in places where I've never searched for him before. As I took a moment to quiet down and appreciate this amazing day, I felt nothing but beauty -- overpowering and enticing beauty. It was simply beautiful.
Taking full advantage of the nearly 80 degree weather (geez!), my girlfriends and I decided to go to the carnival that was headlining in town. Despite the outrageous prices and the eclectic variety of attenders, we managed to have a truly great time. It's moments like these, the ones that make you feel alive, that push you to realize that not everything has a purpose. Some things are just meant to be fun, and that's just fine. We could all use more of those days, you know? They allow us to never have to apologize for enjoying life. Because that's allowed and its just beautiful.

{spring semester} today was the first day of my spring semester at my university and in between meeting new professors and filling in seating charts, i sporadically had a revelation. i don't know why i thought about this today because its kind of, sort of... common sense, but it did come to me and i thought id lay it on you: "you should do whatever makes you happy." i know we hear that a lot and we sometimes even adopt it as a daily mantra. but do we REALLY do it? i know i sometimes get so caught up in doing things for other purposes and people {whether it be homework for my teachers or attending meetings for whoever & whatever} that i forget to do things {or not do things} because its what i truly want and what i love to do. life is too short not to do what makes you happy.. and trust me, there are so many things in this life that have the potential to bring you sheer and utter happiness. i think we just need to do them - and stop messing with all of the rest. it'll just make you tired and well... unhappy. if with the things you do, happiness is the deciding factor... then that is just beautiful.

{blessed} even though it was absolutely freezing today, I couldn't help but feeling absolutely blessed. I have an amazing family, out-of-this-world friends, and I'm someone that can honestly say I've loved another with all of my heart and felt that love reciprocated tenfold. It just baffles me the things that God shows and does for us each and every day. I came to the realization that sometimes one doesn't even realize how truly blessed they are -- and it is hard to see at times. especially when that promotion isn't earned, or {in my case} you're not quite finding where you fit in in a new life. but these are the times that are reflected on and in my case, the times where the blessings in my life are honestly appreciated and taken at face value. the truth is -- this world has so much to offer and it's our job to take hold of every speck of it, the good and the bad, and turn it into something that is just beautiful.

Happy Monday! I want this blog to be a place of beauty & a means to publicly express all things beautiful. I hope that you find joy in the things I find beauty in. I wish to draw inspiration from the things you find beauty in. And ultimately, I hope to grow and really open my eyes to be able to embrace everything that is beautiful -- even if its out of the ordinary. lights + cameras + new years!
i love lush bubble bars -- this one smelled like fresh citrus and filled my bath with glitter!
{happy new years everyone!} wow, it still amazes me that its 2012. my only hopes for this year is that it is filled with ever-present happiness and as far as the rest goes, i'm kind of hoping for some adventure. I'm young and in college and have so many people in my life that bring me utter happiness -- i should do the things i want to do and try things even if they scare me. like this blog -- its kind of out of my comfort zone {putting my life in words for people to see} i suppose i started it at the right time though. I, myself, was (and still am) looking for something that I can really be wonderful at -- something i can invest myself into. I think I've found it and I'm excited! this new years was pretty low key, the pictures are just my prep process {oh the things we girls go through}. to me, the new year is about making plans, finding your happiness, and becoming a better you and all of that is just beautiful.
